Year 4

Our Year 4 Class is taught by Miss Davidson.

This year our Year 4 Class is called King Class, after their Courageous Advocate, Martin Luther King.  Martin Luther King was a black man born in America on January 15th 1929. At that time in America, there was racial segregation. This meant that there were separate areas for black people to go in, away from white people. This included different seats on public transport, in restaurants, in parks, and even in toilets. These were known as the ‘Jim Crow laws’.  Martin Luther King believed everyone should be entitled to the same rights regardless of their race. He became a civil rights activist, campaigning for improved rights for people and helped change the law in America, so that everyone had the same rights, regardless of the colour of their skin.

You can find out more about Martin Luther King on his this website –
